Oak Town 4-H June Picnic Information

5/30/2021

We will be again meeting in-person for our June Oak Town 4-H Club Meeting. This year we will be holding a club picnic at Dimond Park on June 7th. Here is a rough schedule for the picnic.
  • 5-6 pm Pre-Picnic Clean-Up in the park
  • 6pm (Touch-Less) Meet in Club Houses, check-In, decorate a club-branded rock
  • 6:20 pm Picnic….the club will provide club members picnic dinner (sandwich, fruit, chips, cookie and napkin). We ask that YOU bring
    • Family picnic blanket to picnic on (the tables and benches can be a bit grungy, and family picnic blankets will provide a bit of “social distancing”)
    • Refillable water bottles or a beverage of your choice.
    • We will be providing napkins but not plates. If you feel you need a plate, please bring your own.
  • 6:30 pm Club Awards

    • Acknowledgements
  • 6:45 pm Crafts and Lawn Games
    • Parent and Leaders can likely touch base during the lawn game activities
  • 7:30 Clean Up and Good Byes

Community Service Opportunities at the Oak Town 4-H June Picnic

5/30/2021

Oak Town 4-H Members will have two opportunities to complete some community service at out June Picnic! We are looking forward to a time when we can again partner with Dimond Recreation Center and Park and get back to meeting there. These two community service opportunities allow us to help out a little in anticipation of that time.

First you will have the option of coming an hour before the picnic to help clean up the park. We will provide trash bags and disposable gloves and a few trash grabbers and will target cleaning up the playground areas. The creek area is also often a site where trash is left so cleaning up along the creek path is also suggested if there is enough time and enough membership participation.

Second…...did you know there was a “Little Free Library” at Dimond Rec Center? They are in need of children's’ books to loan out and we are hoping to help them with this endeavor throughout the coming year. If you have used children’s books that you would like to dispose of in a useful manner this is a great time to do it. Bring your lightly used children's’ books to the picnic and we will “brand” them with a label stating that they are provided by Oak Town 4-H and put them into the little library book shelf during the picnic.
